Rhapta Road Residents Association Public Participation on Proposed Construction

Meeting Held 8 June 2024

1735

The principle of Public Participation requires that citizens take part in the decision-making processes on all matters that affect them.

This is stressed at Article 10 in the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on National Values and Principles of Governance. The CoK, 2010 expounds on the same at Article 118 on dealing with the affairs of parliament and its committees.

Article 196 speaks to the conduct of business at the level of County Governments through county assemblies, where it is required that public involvement in all decision-making processes on matters that affect the public, be effectively facilitated.

For these reasons, Nairobi County’s Public participation Act, commits to collaborating with relevant bodies in conducting Public Participation processes and Civic education.
